2nd Day in Ras: The Attack of Camels on the Sands

First day of my trip in Ras Al-Khair was wet, rainy and sandy. It was raining cats and dogs the whole day. Yes, you’ve read it right. In the Kingdom, it also rains once the weather is about to change. Usually September is the last month of hot season and the start of winter. Once it rained, it signifies winter is coming and after the rain, expect a sandstorm few weeks after. Temperature plummets from 10 degrees Celsius down to 8 degrees Celsius by December which is mid-winter season in Saudi Arabia. Anyhow, on my second day in Ras Al-Khair, I felt like I went on a tour. I was wandering in the vast view of nowhere and to only see sands and camels.DSC03377

Sands and camels were everywhere and I was imagining myself in an Arabian movie caused it looked like I was on the set and ready to ride on one of those hump-y creatures. But those camels are wild and not tame, so, I just took photos whenever I see them.DSC03380DSC03391

The driver was kinda awe when he saw me sticking my face on the window of the van just like a kid looking so fascinated.DSC03394DSC03396

It was an amazing day and it completed my Arabian stay since it wouldn’t be a great Arabian experience if I haven’t seen a camel or the desert.DSC03405 DSC03400

Since I witnessed already the famous animal in the desert, I just hope I can also visit a UNESCO site in the Kingdom. ‘InshaAllah’ as what the Saudis say which means God willing in the future.DSC03404

1st Day in Ras: Undeniably A Perfect Sunrise

It was a very happy and lovely morning that day. I woke up by 0300H and checked this blog and got a lot of readers viewing one of my posts. Another reason that I’m happy is a company invited me to see their workshop for 3 days. It is a chance for me to see a new place, new adventure even though it will be just for 3 short days. I’ve not gotten a clue what would I’ll be seeing there since they didn’t do briefing for me, they didn’t even tell me the name of the place/town.DSC03308

Rendezvous at bakala near my flat at around 0500H for the travel time will be long according to a friend of mine who works there. I got into the company’s van and kinda sleepy caused I woke up so early. Usually in my regular days, I got out of bed at 0500H considering my duty starts by 0700H if I’m in early schedule. Anyway, I traveled all the way from Al Jubayl to another place which I don’t really know where. I saw the city lights turning smaller and smaller as the van goes farther and farther. It was pitch black outside and the air became colder making dew on the windows of the van.

I arrived at 0600H in a place they called Ras Al-Khair, passing  thru the Al Khafji route and Jubail Airport. When I got out of the van, I was stunned with the view. It appeared like I was in the outskirts of nowhere. Everything was flat, no mountains, trees, even animals. It was all desert but due to the current development they were doing, cargo containers were present as a form of houses for laborers, engineers, medical staff, and etc ranging from different nationalities such as Australians, Finnish, Indians, Koreans, Indonesians, Filipinos, Bangladeshis, Pakistanis, Ghanas, Somalis and many more. At least, I’ve got to know and met other nationalities with this experience I had.DSC03329

The good thing about traveling early morning is you got the chance to see the sunrise which is undeniably perfect when I got there. It was amazing and definitely the highlight of my trip in Khursaniyah, Ras Al-Khair. Khursaniyah is a remote place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I just saw and visited a camp which is a company called SK Engineering and Construction. The company is under Saudi Aramco which is the biggest company in the Kingdom. I got the opportunity to do some sort of field trip when I was there and got these photos within the camp and while on the road.DSC03330DSC03332

In the camp, there are also facilities for recreation such as golf training course, fitness gym, tennis court, billiards, and many more.

So far with my stay there, I enjoyed it. But definitely, I don’t want to stay there for a longer period of time.DSC03347
